Relight for me, the true meaning of work

I’m Laura Migliavacca, I’m 17 and I’m a student of Falcone and Borsellino High School specializing in modern languages.

In the first three weeks of September, for the project "Alternanza Scuola Lavoro”, I had the opportunity and the fortune to work at Relight Company.

The aim was to introduce the students like me to the world of work and to experience a different way of learning, developing their own skills, and put yourself out there.

Here, I learned the true meaning of work, trying to achieve a common objective that gives profitable results for everyone.

I learned that everything could be reused, even if it does not seem; in fact the things that we throw or those we no longer use contain great treasures within, precious elements that need to be recovered. Relight works for all of us, all over the earth and it does a huge job we must be grateful for.

My experience in Relight was a surprising revelation every day.

I worked in the Research and Development Division's office, sharing my desk with Serena Sgarioto, a very nice and well-prepared girl who helped me on my path, and I hope I was helpful. Particularly, my company tutor Matteo Sicolo, who coordinated my work was helpful was a point of reference for me.

They are all very nice and open

In these three weeks I could translate the company site into French and some English projects, improving and learning new specific WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) words.

Then, thanks to Matteo's support, I updated the website. It was the thing that made me more enthusiastic because I like to use programs for creating websites and doing anything using the computer.

I wrote an article about their project; it was a good writing exercise, trying to synthesize in a few lines essential concepts and give a clear idea of the project.

I will never forget these three weeks, which seemed like a few days. This experience made me grow and learn to trust more in my skills.

As it is written on a poster stuck to the office wall: "Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed"; for me it is the philosophy of Relight.

Relight was founded in 1999 by a cooperation project with Philips to create a network for the collection and recovery of fluorescent lamps in Italy.
